1JM have loved being rockstars today! Out focus for the day has been repeating patterns and shapes. We read a book called A Mathematician Like Me, played some maths games and danced to music. Just like the character in the story we wrote a list. We made repeating patterns with the 2D shapes and with different colours.
1M launched our TT Rockstars Day with the text A Mathematician Like Me by Dr Shini Somara. We focused on naming and listing the amount of 3D shapes in our baskets, using number words and correct spellings for 3D shapes. We then explored repeated patters with 2D shapes. Reading the book inspired us to count in two’s, fives and tens too – a great preparation for multiplication.
