Uniform

Being part of Raddlebarn Primary & Nursery School is something to be proud of and therefore our high standards for presentation and school uniform must be adhered to at all times, firstly as an ambassador for the school and secondly to feel a united sense of belonging. Our high expectations are also there for the purpose of health and safety.

Our uniform and school logo was redesigned by a Y1 pupil in 2020/2021, when asked how she decided on her design, she shared that ‘it just made sense’. It was a time when we placed rainbows in our windows to show thanks to our NHS; we are a ‘No Outsiders’ school; we are a hugely diverse school in so many ways; our school halls, as well as steps and signage in our nursery buildings are already made of rainbows and having been through a frightening and difficult time with a world wide pandemic, we all held onto the thought that after a storm comes sunshine (storm=pandemic and sunshine = hope) and this is when a rainbow is formed! We wanted to wear with pride that being at Raddlebarn brings hope, happiness and safety to everyone.

We also changed the colour of uniform at the same time, to make it more affordable for all of our families. Our school councillors chose navy blue sweaters with a white polo shirt, after they did a bit of market research around supermarket availability and pricing. As a school, we wanted to make sure that there were less struggles, following the hardship caused by the pandemic.

Jewellery

The wearing of jewellery by pupils at our school is strongly discouraged on Health and Safety grounds and as a deterrent to potential theft, damage and loss. Items of jewellery are worn at the owner’s risk and the school will not be held responsible for the actions of a third parties.
Small stud earrings for Health and Safety Reasons should only be worn as there is greater risk of injury with larger and dangly earrings.
During PE lessons all personal effects should be removed. Staff will give a verbal reminder to pupils. If they cannot be removed (i.e. recently pierced ears with studs), staff have a duty of care to ensure that pupils are able to participate without unnecessarily endangering themselves or those working around them.
The school’s policy is to tape over studs (please provide tape) during P.E Lessons. Studs are the only earrings allowed to be worn in school.
