Violet wished she had a friend. Then, great sea giant, Eko, appears! Violet sets off on a rollercoaster ride with Eko to the bottom of the sea. She meets fish that glow in the dark, squids serving an underwater feast, and a wise seal. Violet discovers that the sea is being destroyed. But what can she do? She is only little. With her Granny and a new gang of friends, can Violet help save the ocean?

Violet and the Sea Giant was inspired by Autin Dance Theatre’s acclaimed outdoor physical theatre performance, Out of the Deep Blue. The live performance is a large-scale show featuring dance and giant puppetry and is inspired by the themes of the climate emergency and the biodiversity crisis. It features Eko, the sea giant, operated by 5 puppeteers and the character of Violet who is played by an East Asian female contemporary dancer. This spectacle is designed specifically for family and festival audiences and tells the magical story of a sea giant who rises from the deep ocean and encounters, on the shore, a little girl called Violet.
