As part of our geography topic, we carried out some work towards the Eco Schools Green Flag application. We analysed the Birmingham Travel Plan to identify any changes that have already been made as well as exploring the benefits and concerns of the introduction of Low Traffic Neighbourhoods. Finally, we created information posters to promote the use of The Blue Cycle Route to visit local places of interest.

Y6 have been sharing some Musical appreciation…
In music, we have listened and danced to some African music. The class danced enthusiastically to the beat of the Ghanaian folk song, Kye Kye Kule.
Y6 have become keen Geographers!
In geography, we have been learning about how longitude and latitude lines can help locate places in the world. We listened to a catchy song to help us remember how longitude and latitude works!
Y6 PSHE & British Values work
As part of our PSHE and British Values work, we have been focussing on the presidential election in the USA. We reflected on the importance of integrity, democracy, and equality of opportunity. We watched Kamala Harris’ speech and how she encouraged all children to believe in themselves and their hopes for the future.
Look what Y6 have been up to!
Year 6 have started their new topic on “Locational Knowledge”. Children have discussed different ways to locate places e.g Google Maps and Atlases. They have also located different countries, mountain ranges and rivers. It has been lovely to hear the wealth of knowledge children already had about the world they live in!
