Ice cream in Y4

To celebrate such a successful year Year 4 were treated with ice cream today, including sauces and sprinkles!  They’d worked hard to raise the money through their enterprise project and enjoyed the rewards!
Have an amazing Summer break!

MAC gala – Y4

6 children from Year 4 have had an amazing day at the MAC gala finding out how theatre behind the scenes works for actors, directors and producers. This brings to a close their ‘Precious Emily’ project.
This evening they will be performing with 9 other schools in a performance of Precious Emily.
If you are interested in tickets, this production has been scheduled for a September showing with professional performers and creatives who’ve taken inspiration from the school performances, this will be a bilingual performance.
If you’d like any further information please contact the MAC.

Precious Emily Performance

Year 4 performed the amazing production of Precious Emily last night – thank you to Stan’s Cafe for supporting our children. The children wrote the script and songs, and helped with the stage directions also! Wow!

Precious Emily

On Wednesday 15th June Year 4 took part in the premier performance of Precious Emily, written by Stan’s Cafe for the Birmingham Commonwealth Arts festival.
Precious Emily tells the stories of two inspirational weightlifters; Precious McKenzie and Emily Campbell. Precious McKenzie (4’10”) the legendary four times Commonwealth Games gold medal-winner, whose incredible tale includes an escape from apartheid in South Africa, his father being killed by a crocodile and an attempt to join the circus.
Emily Campbell (5’11”) the charismatic and trailblazing Olympic Games silver medal winner whose uplifting adventure includes carnival, school sports day, a gold shirt, a difficult decision, a messy bedroom and lots and lots of hard work.
This beautiful, witty show is also about all the lessons weightlifting can teach us, even when the heavy things we have to lift are only in our minds.
The children did an outstanding job! We look forward to the upcoming review in the Birmingham Mail. We were also surprised with a visit from not only Precious McKenzie himself but also Emily Campbell.
A massive thank you and well done to Stan’s Cafe, particularly Craig, to the children in Year 4 and to you at home for supporting your children with this unforgettable project.
Thank you
Year 4 team.

Y4 Canvas Bags

As part of our enterprise project linked to our Art topic Year 4 created our own designs for printing. Once designed we then printed our patterns onto canvas bags. We looked at the costings of the bag and how much we wanted to charge to ensure we could make a small profit to spend when we go to Stratford.
On the final day of the Spring term we sold our bags for £2 to our parents and put our money into an account ready for use to our next half term.
We really enjoyed the whole design then selling process, it was great fun!

Hokusai – Y4

Year 4 have been diving further into their art topic and looked at another artist Hokusai and his famous pieces. We discussed the themes we could see and even tried to recreate our own versions!

Warwickshire County Cricket Coach Luke

What an absolutely brilliant afternoon we have had with our Warwickshire county cricket coach Luke. He taught us some fantastic warm up games, recapped the skills needed for cricket and then we played a competitive game. Our teachers were super impressed with our team spirit and how well we collaborated!
