RP with Mrs Palmer & Mrs Murray
“What a wonderful first full week the children have had. It has been great to see their smiling faces as they come in to school. They have started to settle in to their new environment and are really enjoying exploring all of the areas. We have already had the pleasure of seeing their imaginations and creativity during play. They have started to enjoy playing alongside other children and adults. Here are a few pictures of our first week in Reception.”

Nursery with Miss Killelay
From the moment your child arrives at our school, they become part of our family. We learn together and care for each other. Our staff are as committed to the welfare of the children as they are to their academic achievement and we work hard to make Raddlebarn Nursery feel like home. We provide an environment that is warm, caring and supportive, because we know that this kind of family atmosphere makes the children feel safe and helps them become more confident learners.
This year we have had to make the needed adaptations due to Covid 19 but usually because we’re a family school, everyone is welcome to join in! There will be lots of opportunities for the whole family to become involved in life at Nursery, whether it be seasonal celebrations, concerts, nature days, fundraising events, or special invites to workshops that will help to inspire learning beyond the school gates and into your family home.
This is the beginning of a very special journey that we take together, sharing in the raising of every child, holding dear to our hearts the old African proverb, ‘It takes a whole village to raise a child.’
Nursery is often a child’s first venture alone into the larger world outside the family home. What children experience and learn in Nursery can create strong and lasting foundations on which to build in later life, so we believe it is essential that the experiences are of the highest quality.

Just a little something about 6O and how they have settled in.
“6O have settled back into school life exceptionally well so far. Children have come back to school with a positive attitude ready to tackle new learning and skills. It was lovely to see lots of Anderson Shelter models that were made over the summer. Children took great pride in telling the class about how they made them and the materials they used. 6O have been keen to learn about WWII and are excited to share their knowledge with their peers. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate children on the enthusiasm they have showed since coming back. Well done!”

6BK with Mrs Brill & Mrs Kyricaou
“Hello and welcome to 6BK! Our class is comprised of Mrs Kyriacou, who teaches on Monday and Tuesday and Mrs Brill, who teaches Wednesday-Friday. We also have Miss Huxley, our assistant headteacher, who teaches Maths and English in the mornings. Year Six have had a fantastic start to the year. We have settled in really well and are enjoying our topic, World War Two. We are learning about the impact of the war, from evacuation to rationing.
We are currently in the process of writing our house captain speeches. Our speeches will be filmed and watched by all the other pupils, who in the spirit of democracy will then vote for their house captain. We have two captains for each house: Griffins, Unicorns, Dragons and Phoenix!”

5M – with Miss Montaigu
“5M have had a fantastic first couple of weeks back at school. The children are so happy to be together and are taking the new routines in their stride. We have started to learn about forces and will be doing practical activities to investigate their effects on objects. We are also learning how to take 4 and 6 figure grid references on Ordnance Survey maps, in preparation for our visit to Bewdley. ”

We have made a great start to this academic year!This term is jampacked with various genres of writing, such as suspense stories, persuasive writing, and poems. Our maths lessons will include place values, statistics, fractions, and calculations.Scientific enquiries into forces, field work on Selly Oak, making movable bridges, online safety . . . the list goes on! Awesome authors, Mathmagicians, Super scientists, graceful gymnasts -Best wishes to you all.

3L – Miss Lewis
A little note to share with you how 3L have settled in coming back to school:
“3L have given me the best welcome and have shared with me so many things about themselves and their school. We have started our brand new topic enquiry ‘The Stone Age: What were the significant changes to daily life during the Stone Age?’ and have explored their creativity through cave paintings and thought about what meals they would have. Now they are in Y3, they have started French lessons for the first time too!
They have all really impressed me with their good manners and I would like to congratulate them all for their positive attitude. Well done 3L!”

What a fantastic few weeks 3A have had! Despite the unsettling times and the different routines, we have all settled back into school amazingly! They have been so excited, engaged and enthused with our topic, Prehistoric World. The children, Mrs Fowler and I have learnt so much about the Prehistoric World and how life has changed since then. So far, we have learnt about Stone Age tools and weapons, cave paintings, turned our classroom into a cave and are looking forward to learning so much more about them.

“We have made a great start to year 2, thinking a lot about our different feelings and having plenty of opportunities for relaxation and mindfulness. We have taken full advantage of the nice weather recently and doing a lot of our learning outdoors. As part of our topic on ‘habitats’ we have been into forest school taking photos of objects which are ‘alive’, ‘dead’ or ‘non living’.”

1SH with Miss Sharman-Hall
“In 1SH we have been enjoying being together and the children are settling in really well!
We have been learning Phonics, learning and recapping sounds and tricky words. We have been writing captions and sentences linked to each book of the week. In Maths, we are learning to count in different patterns and using the ‘more than’ and ‘less than’ symbols.
‘What Have We Learnt from Significant People in the Past?’ is our topic and we have learning about Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King.
We look forward to learning lots more together!”
